Photo Shoot: Second Installment

Standard

I promised and here I am, just like Horton the elephant! I will have one more installment of photos after this one. Again, excuse my dorkiness. Remember- I am not a model! I may have to work on using some of  my belly dance poses for these kinds of shoots, but I don’t know what to do with my face!  😀

I should tell you that if you are interested in a small store with an environmental conscience, you can check Precious Earth out on Facebook. She does ship her wares, but I’m not sure how far away she will ship to.

Not too much to say today. The house is under construction (the outside), the dog is at the vet for surgery, and, among other things, I need to go over my lines. [Got a part in a one act play- The Pen of My Aunt by Gordon Daviot.]

I’m off! See you soon!

Top- made in India – L 42, jeans- Bootlegger Paradise – 29 I got the top at the India pavilion at Mosaic here in Regina. I love it, but really wish there was more room in the upper arm part of the sleeves.
Tucker insisted on being in both shots of this outfit!

Jeans- Bootlegger Paradise – 29, top- GAP – 6. Obviously the pants came from Bootlegger; I got the top (black cotton) from the second hand shop. I don’t ‘do’ a lot of black on my top half but I like this and it was a good deal. My sister pointed out that I have to be careful what I wear with this top or it sort of has a maternity top look.

Top- Fresh FX – medium, skirt- Om Grown – large. The top is from Suzanne’s and the skirt is from Precious Earth.

What a weird pose!
Top- Ricki’s – 2, skirt- Underground Original – small. I scored the top from the swap (could do without the ties on the sleeves, and my mom sent me the skirt for my birthday.

IMG_0569

Top- Jacob – medium, cami- Weekender Joy (old), capris- Bootlegger Paradise – 28. I like the combination of brown and blue on the knit top, I got it at the swap. I’ve had the cami forever, and the capris are from Bootlegger.

This is the only time I’ve had this shirt on- I’m saving it for fall.
Top- Papillon – medium, leggings- I cut the tags out a couple of years ago so I can’t tell you. I do love them and wish they had more colours when I got them.

Clothing Photos Finally Here! Installment #1

Standard

Okay, I know I’ve been talking about clothing this summer. And I’ve been saying that I’ll post photos. Yesterday I finally did it- I got out the camera & tripod, pushed furniture around (and around) and took many photos of most of the pieces I have acquired since spring. I didn’t worry about accessorizing (shocking, I know) or footwear (even more shocking!). I just wanted to get on with it!  I am happy to share what I have, but please focus on the clothes and not my expression. I’m no fashion model and I felt kind of goofy just doing this by myself. The watch was from Avon a few years ago, the bare feet are mine.  🙂

So, I collected new pieces from these sources:  Suzanne’s – a retail chain store, Bootlegger- chain retail store, Precious Earth – an independent ‘one-of’ retail store in downtown Regina, a clothing swap I was invited to, and It’s Worth Repeating – a second-hand clothing store in Courtice, Ontario. Oh, and a couple of things from Garage- a chain retail store.

Ankle pants- Banana Republic – 6, sparkle top- Papa – small. Pants from second hand shop, top from Suzanne’s. You can’t really see the sequins in the photo but they’re there. Also, the pants are a soft lime green. I think the colour of the wall threw the camera off.

IMG_0556

Screen print top- Tribal- medium, pants- Candy Couture size ? I got the top for free at the swap and the pants at the second hand shop. LOVE that kind of purple!

IMG_0551

Capris- Rafaella Petite – 6, shirt- Reitman – medium. Both of these were from the second hand store

IMG_0549

This was my test shot for the camera. I don’t know where the skirt came from but I like it- the tie-dye design, the softness of the fabric and the comfort of the waistband. I bought it when I was much ‘fluffier’ so had to take a seam up the back of it this spring so I could still wear it. 🙂 The top is a Canadian label- JM, medium.

IMG_0557

Back view of purple pants. The zippers on the back pockets had strips of purple fabric looped through the zipper pulls but I cut those off – too much going on. Have to confess, it’s kind of a new thing for me to be wearing skinny legged jeans.

Skirt- Onyx -small, shirt- Fresh FX – small; bought both pieces at Suzanne’s. The skirt is actually a cotton-poly shirt kind of fabric with an underlay. It has more blue in it than shows in the photo.

Shopping: ‘It’s Worth Repeating’

Standard

As you know, I have been visiting at my sister and brother-in-law’s. They happen to live in a suburb; it’s kind of odd as it has a name like a city/town, but doesn’t really have a business district or downtown area or mayor of its own. It does have a car dealership and some restaurants and a small strip mall or two. The other day I had some downtime and wanted to check out a second hand clothing store I saw within walking distance. The store is called It’s Worth Repeating (good name, hey?) and, as I had no deadline, I poked around in there for close to an hour.

You’ve got to love places like that! I came out with: 2 pairs of pants, a soft limey green Banana Republic pair, and a deep purple pair of narrow legged jeans; 1 pair of beautiful, good quality paisley capris (Rafaella), 1 pair longish denim walking shorts (Docker), & 2 shirts, a black cotton sleeveless v-neck  (Gap)  & a slatey blue short sleeved button up (Reitman). And all of this for about $45.00….WOW! All of the items are in really good shape (2 pair of the bottoms still had their back pockets basted closed), and at least 3 items were in Petite sizes. This might just explain why they fit so well- I’m just over 5 feet tall.

All told, it was a successful foray into a new shop for not-so-new clothing, even if the walk to and from was around 40 degrees Celcius with the humidex.

I should get dear sister to take some photos of me in the new items. Watch for them…

Cheers!
